The Association of Blind Citizens (ABC) is sponsoring a weekend experience in New Hampshire for legally blind youth between the ages of 12-16. ABC is a not for profit, all volunteer, organization that has been providing programs and services for the blind and visually impaired community for the past 24 years. This program is an outgrowth of our experience in operating camps for blind children. Participants will spend the weekend enjoying group activities that will enrich the way they experience their surroundings! The trainers will engage the students with activities to help them build self-confidence. Activities being planned include music trivia game, introduction to producing or participating in a podcast, and recreational time in an indoor pool. Additionally, a local excursion for bowling or other outdoor activities is planned, depending on the weather. Musical entertainment with participation and adaptive board games will fill the evening hours. This will be a weekend of learning about new and fun activities and a chance to meet new friends. The program will take place the weekend of May 31 to June 2, 2024. Transportation from Boston will be provided. If you are a teacher of the visually impaired or an orientation and mobility instructor, please inform your students’ parent or guardian about this opportunity.
If you are the parent of a blind child, please contact me at president@blindcitizens.org or call 781-961-1023, if your child is interested. ABC will provide registration materials when you express interest by replying to this email. This opportunity is being offered at no charge to participants. The registration deadline is May 1, 2021. Only 8 slots are available so please register early to ensure availability.
Announcement coming soon regarding ABC offering a week-long children’s camp experience from July 28 until Augus 3.
