Game #1 Pool Play: Renegades face BCS in Pool play for the 2nd year in a row
Nick Morin Tylock called his first WS game, McCormick had 5 stops on defense and Thaxton paced the offense with four runs
For the second season in a row, the Renegades and BCS Outlaws would face off in pool play. The game would take place on a slow wet field and the Renegades would be the home team. For Boston, the spotters in this game would be Bryan Grillo on the left side and Nick Morin-Tylock on the right side. Ron Cochran would be the starting pitcher for the Renegades. The Renegades and Outlaws had played 4 previous contests, with Boston victorious in all of these games dating back to 2016.
First inning
Justin Romack led off the game against his pitcher, Jerry House. Romack hit a line drive up the middle of the field. Shawn Devenish playing at the mid field stop rushed in a few steps, hit the ground and it hit him in the chest. A well struck ball that Devenish likely did not need to charge, but he made an excellent play and made it fast. Hillary Oswald (Jerry’s daughter) hit an 0-2 pitch on a line to the right side that got under a diving Joe McCormick. Rob Dias was backing him up and kicked the ball away from him toward a sliding Elana Regan as Hillary scored the first run of the game. Hillary was hurt on the play as the first base line had a dip in it and the baseline was not safe. This ankle/foot injury would need medical assistance. Alex Quick was next and on an 0-3 pitch, Quick hit a dribbler up the middle. Rob Dias came in, slid, fell just short of the ball, flopped on it and picked it up just before Quick hit the bag for the second out. Pedro Aguire (who played with Austin in 2024) struck out to end the first inning.
Joe McCormick was the leadoff hitter and after fouling off three straight pitches lofted a fly ball to the left side. Justin Romack was playing behind the bag and on one bounce was all over it and made the stop with plenty of time to nail McCormick. Christian Thaxton then started the party for Boston with a line drive past everyone in left field for the first run of the Renegade World Series. Tyler Mireault then lofted a high fly ball to the right side and scored running toward third base to give the Renegades the lead. Shawn Devenish hit a third pitch hard grounder to the left side but he took 3 steps to first base before correcting. That made the play easy for Romack and Devenish may have scored if he picked the right base out of the box. Shayne Cantan struck out on four pitches to end the inning. Boston had a 2-1 lead after one frame.
Second inning
Sarah Gardner, a lefty hit the first pitch she saw as a flare to the right side. It dropped before McCormick, playing the right shorty position and he made the play look easy. Hunter Mouton struck out. Justin Romack then hit the first pitch again to the left side down the line. The wet grass killed it and Rob Dias chased to the line. He slid feet first and then rolled over on the ball, finding it in time before Romack hit first base. A 1-2-3 inning for the Renegade defense.
Luis Rodriguez, batting in the six spot would lead off with Hunter Weissman taking the mound in his first World Series appearance as a pitcher. A second pitch foul tip would be all the contact they would make as Rodriguez struck out. McCormick hit the first pitch off Cochran back to Justin Romack on the ground. The ball would die in the thick wet grass at about 90 feet and Romack hit the ground a little early, but was able to recover in time to get McCormick who was racing toward third base. Christian Thaxton then hit a third pitch laser into deep center field for an easy run. Tyler Mireault hit the first delivery from Cochran on the ground to Romack who made his 4th stop of the contest. Boston increased the lead to 3-1.
Third inning
Hillary Oswald, who stayed in the game after the injury in the first hit the second pitch to the right side. McCormick hit the ground, slid and the ball rolled right into his hand for an out which he made look much easier than it was as Hillary limped down the third base line. Alex Quick struck out for the second out. With three strikes, Pedro Aguire hit a weak ball to the left side. Rob Dias gave chase, slid and then played ping pong with the ball as it hit both palms and rolled away from him, he scooted toward it, almost got it caught under his legs but he picked it in time to get Aguire for another 1-2-3 defensive inning.
Shawn Devenish led off and with two strike hit a fly ball into left field and raced toward third but he ran by it, fell to the ground and on his way back to the base, Hunter Mouton picked up the ball for the out. Two bad bases for Devenish in his first two at bats. Shayne Cantan was next and hit a grounder to the left side that died at about 85 feet as Romack hit the ground too soon. Shayne took a similar line to Devenish and missed the base on his right. As he slammed on the breaks, both he and Romack were crawling to their destination and Cantan won the crawl race in an ugly run for the Renegades. After this play, the Renegades asked to have the base fixed as the speaker was pointing in the wrong direction. Rodriguez and Hunter Weissman came back to the field. The result was the same, one foul tip and three waves as they struggled to make contact as Hunter was a little up and down in this at bat. McCormick hit the third pitch off a re-entered Cochran on a line down the third base line. Romack made a great stop at about 125 down the line for his third stop of McCormick. The Renegades led 4-1 but the Renegades were forced to keep the starters in this tight game.
Fourth inning
Sarah Gardner hit a 45-foot dribbler to the right side and took a few steps to third before correcting and running across the field as McCormick charged the ball and made the stop for the first out of the inning. Mouton hit a fly ball that bounced right at Rob Dias’s feet and scooted just by him. Dias went back on the ball, Shayne Cantan eased in on the ball as laid between them. Dias was able to pick it as Mouton was just about 15 feet from third base. Justin Romack hit the first pitch again on a line to the left side right at Shayne Cantan. Cantan stood his ground as it bounced twice and rolled toward him. He smothered it with a glove on his left hand for another 1-2-3 inning.
Thaxton, who had outscored BCS on his own (2-1) hit a first pitch fly ball to the right side that hit the ground and spun toward first base and he had his third run of the contest. Tyler Mireault then blasted a shot into left field and scored with ease toward first base. Shawn Devenish then hit a ball in the air to the right side on the 5th pitch that hit the ground just before Alex Quick at about 65 feet. Devenish was safe, but the ball was ruled dead and Shawn had to come back with three strikes. The result of the malfunctioning equipment would be a strike out. Cantan struck out and Rodriguez hit a first pitch grounder up the middle and raced toward third with a bad line to the inside of the field and was stopped by Alex Quick. Boston led 6-1
Fifth inning
Hilary Oswald lofted a fly ball to the right side on the second pitch and it dropped in front of McCormick, the ball hit the ground as McCormick hit it and it bounced off his hand. Mac recovered fast for a quick out. Speaking of Quick, Alex Quick struck out for the second time. Aguire then hit a hard line drive up the middle. Devenish was late to dive and when he dove, he pushed the ball away from him toward his head into left center. He quickly recovered on the slow grass to make the stop in time. Boston had another 1-2-3 inning with great defense from the Renegades.
Joe McCormick hit the third pitch of the at bat on a line past Romack in left field for his first run of the game. Thaxton then hit a line drive into right field for his fourth run of the game. With an 8-1 lead, Chris Kimball came off the bench to hit for Tyler Mireault. Hunter Weissman came back to the mound to pitch. After two foul balls (and one that hugged the first base line and went foul at about 95 feet), Kimball hit a fly ball to the left side. Romack was playing in and made the play with ease, nailing Kimball, before he hit third base. Drew Crook pinch hit for Shawn Devenish and struck out for the second out. Shayne Cantan then waived four times without contact to end the inning.
Sixth inning
The Renegades made some defensive changes as Drew Crook moved to third base, Guy Zuccarello moved to mid field, Chris Kimball took first base and Jen Morin-Tylock went to the rover spot in left field. Sarah Gardner started the 6th with just the fifth strike out of the game for BCS. Hunter Mouton then hit a hard grounder to the right side that went up and over McCormick’s chest, Mac rolled over and stopped the ball quickly for another fast stop. Romack hit the first pitch delivery for the fourth at-bat (showing how in synch he was with Jerry House) on a line to right side. Kimball over ran it heading toward the line, stopped, changed direction and moved toward the stopped ball, but Romack was too fast and scored the second BCS run of the game. Oswald ended the game with a dribbler to the left side. Dias charged it slid and as he slid, the ball rolled into his hands for the last out of the game. The final scores was Renegades 8 and BCS 2.
Summary
Christian Thaxton would be the player of the game with four runs and half the offense. Rob Dias and Joe McCormick each had 5 stops to pace a defense which made 13 stops in the game. The Renegade defense looked very good but the Renegades offense and base running was shaky and were unable to get some of the starters out till the 5th inning. BCS would end up surprising the whole league when they would eventually beat the NJ Titans in double elimination and finished 8th in the tournament.
Game #2 Pool Play: Renegades flex against the Strong winning 11-1
For the first tim ein Renegade history four Female players were on the field at the same time. Dana was coaching from the bench buy Melissa, Gina, Lanie and Jen were all on the field
For the 2nd time in the season, the Renegades took on the Strong. The strong won the coin toss and chose visitor. For the Renegades, Gina Devenish would start on the left side of the defense with Nick Morin-Tylock calling the right side. Ron Cochran would be the starting pitcher but Hunter Weissman would have the six hitter to start the game.
1st inning
The Strong would start with Kelsey Linsenbigler on the mound. She struck out the first two hitters to start the inning. With three strikes, Chris Nagle lofted a line drive to the left side that got past Rob Dias. Drew Crook dropped like he was doing a fitness exercise with his hands and legs spread out and he gathered the ball for the stop to end the inning. Crook’s internal clock was moving quick on that play. A 1-2-3 inning for the Renegades.
Joe McCormick led things off with a first pitch knock on a line that hit Matthew Debrigard on one hop. Debrigard was able to recover and pick the ball long before McCormick made it to third base. Christian Thaxton then laced a rocket up the middle of the field past the entire defense for the first run of the game. Tyler Mireault pinch hit for Luis Rodriguez, who started on defense. He hit a slow grounder up the middle and raced toward third. Debrigard chased it but as he approached the middle of the field, he was clearly waiting for Joe Buizon to make the play. By the time he figured out Buizon was not going to be on time, Mireault had scored. Shawn Devenish, with three strikes hit a grounder to the left side, Debrigard charged it, (which made it feel like ethe defensive caller made a bad call), the ball scooted past him and into the third layer where Wynter Pingel tried to grab it but she was late as Devenish made it 3-0. Drew Crook then laced a hot line drive down the third base line and he could have walked to the base as the Strong defense didn’t even chase it. Chris Kimball was next and with him, his roommate, Hunter Weissman came to the mound. Kimball hit the second pitch up the middle. Joe Buizon crashed forward and dove on the ball calling “up” long before he had it in the air, but made the play quickly. Joe McCormick then hit a line drive that hit Debrigard again and it ricocheted off him right into the lap of Karen Nagle for the last out of the inning. Boston led 4-0.
2nd Inning
Karen Nagle would lead off with a grounder up the middle, making her pitcher jump in the air. McCormick beat Dias to the ball and picked it clean for the first out. Darren Black whiffed. Johnny Coe then toed the mound with his personal hitter, Wynter Pingel. She hit a weak grounder up the left side of the middle of the field. Dias and McCormick gave chase. Dias hit the ground early and McCormick beat him to the ball lifting it in time for the third out and a 1-2-3 inning.
Christian Thaxton stayed hot and on the third pitch launched a bomb into center field and jogged to third as the Strong defense did not chase it. Tyler Mireault then hit one in the air to the right side, as he ran to third base, he missed it running wide of the base. Buizon picked the ball for the out. Shawn Devenish then struck out and Drew Crook struck out to end the inning on a whimper for the Renegades. The Renegades held a 5-0 lead.
3rd inning
Matt Debrigard led off the second inning with a grounder down the third base line. Rob Dias gave chase at an angle. He over pursued it and dove feet first as the ball went under his arms. He gave chase backwards into the defense as Drew Crook crept forward and Debrigard missed the bag. Dias picked the ball up as Debrigard hit the ground trying to get back to the base. Buizon and Chris Nagle would each wave four times with no contact of Linsenbigler and it was another 1-2-3 inning.
Chris Kimball started the 3rd with Hunter pitching to his uncle. He struck out. Joe McCormick, looking for his first run off Cochran, hit a weak grounder down the third base line. Debrigard gave chase as McCormick ran to first. Due to the injury of Hillary Oswald in the first game, the Renegade runners were not running hard till they cleared the danger zone on the base path. That cost the Renegades a run, but McCormick was healthy. Thaxton then hit a towering pop fly ball to the left side. Black hit the ground before the ball landed and Debrigard was caught standing up looking for the ball and Thaxton scored his third run and 7th of the day with ease. Tyler Mireault then blasted the 2nd pitch he saw past everyone on the right side as he ran to the base like he was being shot at, zig zagging, but this time he hit it, giving the Renegades a 7-0 lead. Devenish then hit slow roller on a 3 strike count up the middle. Debrigard and Buizon gave chase as Devenish slid by first base and missed it. He was able to crawl back before Buizon lifted the ball for the run. Crook then lofted a fly ball to the left side that hit the ground and spun. Debrigard picked the ball with ease. Boston led 8-0.
4th inning
The Renegades would make subs on defense. Guy Zuccarello (Right shorty), Melissa Hoyt (1B), Elana Regan (Left shorty) and Shayne Cantan (Mid field) would hop off the bench and Chris Kimball would switch positions to play deep rover. Karen Nagle struck out to start the inning. Darren Black hit a weak grounder to the left side as Guy Zuccarello charged and made the play with ease. Pingel then took an 0-1 pitch up the middle weakly. Regan charged and over ran it but Zuccarello was there to back her up and she deferred to him for another 1-2-3 inning.
Chris Kimball hit a hard grounder up the middle off the first delivery of Weissman and Debrigard stopped him. Shayne Cantan then stepped into the box in the leadoff spot and worked the count to four pitches and then unleashed a shot into left field past Wynter Pingel for an easy run. This brought rookie, Michael Donovan to the plate, hitting for Thaxton. The result was a strike out, Guy Zuccarello, hitting for Tyler in the third spot, hit the first pitch up the middle past the first layer and scored running toward third base. Elan Regan then entered the lineup pinch hitting for Shawn Devenish. She laced a hard grounder down the third baseline that rolled foul after it got past the base and it got past Darren Black for a run. This brought Jen Morin-Tylock to the plate for her first World Series at bat. Hunter Weissman came to the mound to face her. She got one foul tip but would go down on strikes. The Renegades lead grew to 11-0.
5th inning
The Renegades would make more subs in this game as Joe Yee (rover) and Jen Morin-Tylock (3rd base) would be on defense. This would be the first time in Renegade history that four female Renegades were on the field at the same time with Gina Devenish calling the left side, Regan at left shorty, Morin-Tylock at third base and Melissa Hoyt at first). Matt Debrigard led off with a strike out. Buizon then hit a 3 strike pitch down the first base line into a Renegade shift. Kimball screamed “left”. Melissa Hoyt froze in her tracks. Jen Morin-Tylock over ran it running forward, spun around, dropped to her knees and crawled after it as Buizon hit first base. Chris Nagle struck out for the second time. His wife, Karen Nagle also struck out for the second time. However, the Strong got on the board and it was 11-1.
Luis Soto entered the game with Hunter Weissman pitching to him to start off the 6th. The result would be a four pitch strike out. Joe Yee was next and would also face Weissman. He hit the first pitch weakly to the left side, took one step to the wrong base before he corrected and was put out easily by Debrigard. Donovan then hit a weak grounder to the left side to who else, Debrigard. The Renegades put up a bagel and the score was 11-1.
6th inning
Luis Soto stayed in the game on defense and went to Rover. Melissa Hoyt moved to the mid field spot and Joe Yee moved to first base. Darren Black led off with a weak grounder to the right side. Zuccarello crashed forward and made the stop with plenty of time. Wynter Pingel then lofted a short fly ball up the middle and Zuccarello made the stop with Elana Regan in the area. Debrigard hit the second pitch he saw in the air to the left side and it hit Elana in the hand and in Regan fashion, she used her claw to pick the ball quickly.

Game #13 Pool Play:Renegades take it to the edge – but fall to Indy 27-15
Ron & Hunter were 14-30 with just 5 K’s. Hunter also had his first ever World Series run scored against him in this game
Game three of the first day of pool play pitted the Renegades against the Indy Edge. The Renegades came into this contest with a 2-6 lifetime record against the edge and a 4 game losing streak. in 2024, there was some controversy surrounding the edge and their pitcher was suspended for the series by the league. They went out and recruited the former pitcher of the San Antonio Jets to pitch for them.
Though the team’s location says Indianapolis, this team is an all-star team. Their pitcher is from Texas. Their starting lineup has players from Indianapolis, St. Louis, Kansas, Austin and San Antonio. Boston entered this contest with hopes that the San Antonio pitcher may need time to adjust to his new players. If they struggled, Boston hoped to grab the three seed heading into double elimination.
First inning
After losing the coin toss, Christian Thaxton led off the game hitting the first pitch off the bottom of the bat to the Edge Front man, Nick Mulherin for the first out. Joe McCormick then hit a weak grounder down the third base line that Mulherin struggled with and Mac put the Renegades on the board. Tyler Mireault then also hit the first pitch to the right side and Lupe Perez made a stop in the second layer of the defense to nab the speedy Mireault. Shawn Devenish kept the trend alive also hitting the first pitch to the left side, past a diving Mulherin but his line to third base was bad and he did not correct. Coach Weissman screamed for him to stop before he plowed into the Edge bench, calling the play dead as the ball rolled into the waiting hands of Brandon Chesser. Cochran threw four pitches, the Renegades put the ball in play each time, but only plated one run. Thankfully, Devenish was not hurt on the play.
The legendary, Lupe Perez would be the leadoff hitter against Jeremy Lopez. He hit the second pitch on a line into right center. Devenish dove and stopped the ball but it rolled away from him. Perez missed third base and Devenish reached out and picked it up for the first out of the game. Nick Mulherin hit the first pitch on the ground to the left side. Dias took a few shuffles to his left, laid out and made the stop look easy. Corian White then struck out and the Renegades started with a 1-0 lead in this contest.
2nd inning
Shayne Cantan would lead off the second. He saw four pitches (equal to his 4 teammates in the first inning) but he could not connect with Cochran and struck out. Rob Dias was next, making his first at bat of the series. He had the same result as Cantan. Thaxton took the third pitch and hit a laser past everyone on the left side and scored with ease as Jason Dobbs got his feet wet in a drainage ditch beyond the 170 line. Joe McCormick hit the first pitch on a line to the same spot sending Jason Dobbs running backwards for the second time into a drainage ditch filled with water at around 200 feet. Tyler Mireault would foul off the first pitch but then swing and miss the rest of the way as the Renegades increased their lead to 3-0.
Grant Simpson (who played with the Bayou city Heat in 2024) led off the inning with a hard grounder up the middle. Devenish was indecisive on which way to lay out and threw his feet at the ball. It got by him and Joe McCormick was backing him up in the third layer and made the stop on the speedy Simpson. Elijah Burns was next, making his first ever start against the Renegades. The result of this was a strike out. Brandon Chesser, originally of the Austin Blackhawks, lofted a fly ball to left field. McCormick ran to his left and then heard it hit to his right and changed direction. He almost got the ball but pushed it away from him as Chesser scored. Corey White hopped off the bench to pinch hit for Lupe Perez and launched a bomb to left field on the first pitch. This sent McCormick racing backwards and he scored with ease. Nick Mulherin then hit a grounder up the left side. Dias charged it and went to the ground awkwardly and late, as he laid out his hands – he knocked it away from him toward the middle of the field. Shayne Cantan was slow to back him up as the Renegades were giving up the middle of the field. Corian White then hit a fly ball to the middle of the field. Devenish charged it slid, but it rolled under him and White gave the Edge a 4-3 lead. Grant Simpson ended the inning with a hard grounder a few step to the right of Rob Dias, who laid out and made a perfect stop. The Edge had a 4-3 lead after two frames.
3rd Inning
Shawn Devenish waived at the first three pitches, then fouled three off and on the 7th pitch, hit a line drive to the right side and ran a perfect line to third base to lead off with a run. Shayne Cantan then worked the count to three strikes and golfed a high pop fly to the middle of the field and scored to give the Renegades a 5-4 lead. Rob Dias was next and in a six minute at bat would foul off 6 straight pitches and eventually hit a high pop fly landing right on the 40 foot arc. Dias scored as the team erupted. Thaxton kept the party going by hitting a high fly ball to center field and scored his third run of the game. McCormick then knocked a fly ball into left field on the first pitch and scored. Mireault tasered a shot into left field for a no doubter and the Renegades scored six in a row. Devenish then went to the 5th pitch of his at bat and hit a hard grounder to the left side. Mulherin got his body on it but it rolled away from him and he was able to recover for the first out. Cantan also hit a grounder to the left side, but this was an easier play and Mulherin stopped him. Rob Dias was next and as soon as he hit the ball, he called no base because he could not hear it as there was yelling from another field that drowned out the sound of the base. The no base was not awarded as the base switch operator was on time. Nick Mulherin made all three outs. The Renegades took a 9-4 lead with a six run inning.
Burns led off with a first pitch smash to left center. McCormick had one shot to get his body in front of it and missed and it rolled to the drainage ditch for a run. Brandon Chesser then hit a second pitch hard grounder to the left side. Dias went to his left, over ran it as it rolled under him. Cantan was slow to react and Dias was quick as a cat to his feet, dove head first and in his out stretched hands lifted the ball for the first out. Corey White then hit a deep fly ball to center. McCormick raced and had one chance, he slid and almost had the stop, but he took three tries and a barrel roll to lift it and White’s speed was too much. Mulherin lofted a fly ball to the right side straight at Tyler Mireault. Tyler could not find it in time and the run scored. Corian White laced a hard grounder to center which took a nasty hop as Devenish dove for it and it bounced up about 4 feet in the air. Tyler had one chance to stop it but was late to the ground and it was past him as the Edge scored three in a row. Grant Simpson hit a high short fly up the middle. Zuccarello ran to the spot but over ran it by a step, he then came back and the ball got under his body and by the time he lifted it, the speedy Simpson had hit third base in a bang-bang play. Burns then hit a weak grounder up the middle. Dias charged it but didn’t hear it and he called dead ball. The ball was not dead and the run counted. Due to the issues with the balls, it likely died and came back to life as the league had an issue with the quality of the balls in this 2025 season. Chesser then blasted a shot to right field for a no doubter and the Edge took a 11-9 lead with just one out. Corey White hit a weak grounder up the middle sending his pitcher jumping. Rob Dias charged it, over ran it, pivoted and went back. Devenish crept up as Dias went back and neither took charge as the 8th run of the inning scored. Mulherin then hit a line shot to right. Tyler Mireault ran right by it without making an effort to dive as it screamed past him for the 13th Edge run. Corion White next laced a hard grounder to the left side that scooted passed Dias and Shayne Cantan was caught on his knees as the ball went by him for a run. The Renegades needed that one and the score was 14-9 with just one out. Grant Simpson then helped the Gades with a room service grounder into the chest of Rob Dias. Burns then grounded up the middle as Devenish dove for and missed but he called dead ball. For the second time in the inning, the ball came back to life and the run counted as Burns scored his third run of the inning. The inning ended with a weak grounder to the left side sending Dias toward the line and he made the stop. The Edge scored 11 runs in the inning to take a 15-9 lead.
This was one of the worst defensive innings in Renegade history marking just the 6th time in history an opponent had scored 11+ runs in an inning. The last time it happened was in the 2023 World Series against the Indy Thunder. Jeremy Lopez also did it to the Gades in that same World Series while pitching for the Jets. The Indy Edge did it in the 2022 World Series as well. Each of those games resulted in a loss for the Renegades. This was less about the quality of the Renegade defense and more about the power of the Edge and the quality of the balls (costing two outs to the Renegades).
4th inning
Thaxton led off with a high pop fly to the left side and scored his third run of the game. McCormick hit a fly ball to the left side as well, but this landed in front of Mulherin who made the stop for his 5th of the game. McCormick would feel something in his leg after this play as he hit the base awkwardly. Mireault went air as well, this time to deep center field and scored his second run of the game. Devenish then lofted an short ball to the left side. Mulherin had to charge it and made the stop. Devenish missed the base making this play look easier than it was as a good line would have made this bang-bang. Cantan then lofted a high fly ball into left field that Dobbs could not find and he scored. Rob Dias ended the inning with a weak grounder to the left side that Mulherin fielded with ease. Boston scored three but trailed 15-12.
The Renegades would make some changes on defense in this inning as Chris Kimball and Luis Rodriguez entered the game replacing Joe McCormick and Tyler Mireault. Corey White would lead off with a bomb over Chris Kimball’s head for an easy run, Nick Mulherin and Corian White each struck out for only the third and fourth whiffs of this contest. Kaleb Wright then entered the game, hitting for Simpson. He laced a hard grounder up the middle, Devenish dove and missed. Kimball and Rodriguez gave chase but both showed their number to home plate as the ball was smoked. Burns almost repeated the same play as he sent Devenish to the ground and Kimball and Rodriguez sprinting backwards. This was Burns 4th run of the game. Chesser then weakly popped up to the right side. Zuccarello charged, dropped to his knees about 6 feet before the ball. He realized it and sprung forward but missed the ball and picked it up on his second attempt. The play was called an out, but the replay shows Chesser was safe. Maybe the bad luck the Renegades faced with noise off Dias’s bat and 2 crap balls that died and came back to life was finally changing? The Edge led 18-12.
5th inning
Thaxton led off the 5th with a run scoring grounder, his 4th of the game. Drew Crook came in to pinch hit for Rodriguez and hit a hard grounder to the left side for his first run of the game. Chris Kimball brought Hunter Weissman to the mound with him. After an out and an awarded late base, Kimball grounded to the right side and scored. Devenish then hit a hard grounder right at Mulherin who made a nice play for the first out. Cantan also hit a hard grounder to the left side and Mulherin made another stop. Rob Dias struck out to end the inning. Boston was down just 18-15.
Corey White started things off with a hard grounder up the middle. Devenish had one shot, he missed and it rolled past the 200 foot line. Mulherin then hit an absolute missile into right field past everyone for his 4th run. Corian White went back to the same spot as Nick and the result was the same. Kaleb Wright hit a hard grounder to the left side. Crook never went to the ground and it rolled to the drainage ditch as Boston stopped Shayne Cantan from going after it, keeping him safe and dry. Burns then went to the right side. Zuccarello gave chase deep behind the bag, hesitated, called for help and then slowly went after it as Burns scored. Chesser hit a line drive to right field and Chris Kimball ranged to his right and made a stop in the 3rd layer of the defense for the first out of the frame. Corey White then hit a fly ball to left, Cantan had it lined up but did not lay out instead preferring to play it on his knees and he missed it as White scored. Nick Mulherin then hit a shot to right, Chris Kimball had one chance and missed it and Mulherin scored his 5th run of the game. Corian White whiffed for the second out. Kaleb Wright then hit a line drive into left field past Crook. Cantan could not find it in time and Wright scored. Burns went up the middle on the ground past Devenish for his 6th run of the game. Chesser whiffed to end the frame. Another huge inning for the Edge as they plated 9 runs in the contest. This was the 22nd time in Renegade history a team had plated 9 runs in an inning. The only time the Renegades would ever win a game with a defensive inning this bad was against the NJ Titans in 2018.
6th inning
The Renegades would turn to their bench down 27-15. The first person up was Michael Donovan. He would strike out. Jen Morin Tylock was next. She hit a nice hard grounder down the third base line. Mulherin made a nice play ranging backwards to his right to make the stop. Chris Kimball then hit the first pitch on the fly up the middle and was stopped by who else, Nick Mulherin.
